Students, members of the campus community, and the community at large discuss whether Shasta College is properly focused on providing an equitable education for its students, and whether it meets appropriate minimum standards regarding treatment of employees.
There can be no quality education in the classroom when there is a pall cast over free speech and free expression. When faculty members are fearful of losing their jobs, they lack freedom of expression. Where there is no freedom of expression, there is no academic freedom.
When faculty inflate student grades out of fear, there is no quality education. When faculty representatives do not support academic freedom - and therefore job security for all faculty - those representatives do not represent all faculty fairly.
An oppressed class cannot provide a quality service in the classroom. This blog is established to promote equity and equality . . . an equitable education for all students and equality for all faculty.
